I was at one of the many annual “fests” in my neighboring urban “hood” today that featured the usual of booze, art, foods on sticks and live local bands.
As I was marveling at the aesthetic and subcultural wonderland that I had forgotten was one of my favorite things about summer, I stumbled across the artist who created the work below.
Her name is Kathrine Allen-Coleman

I was struck by her use of period and life-stage relevant clothing to evoke a very specific cultural context and thought others would enjoy the perspective. Nostalgia is an interesting mechanism for driving empathy and this anthropologist is all about empathy-generation as a method for making a point.
